Increase welfare payments for single disabled persons

GIVEN THAT this petition’s goal is to increase the welfare payments for single residents with a disability living in Québec;

GIVEN THAT the disparity between the money given and what is needed to have a basic quality of life is large;

GIVEN THAT in 2009, the poverty line for a single person living in Québec and in Ontario was $18,421 and that, in Québec, single persons with a disability received only $10,881 in social benefits compared to $12,905 in Ontario, representing a gap of 40.93% and 29.94% respectively;

We, the undersigned, ask the Government to raise social benefits for disabled persons by 10% in Québec.
