The sittings of the National Assembly and its standing committees are open to the public.

Please consult the Useful Information section before coming to the Parliament Building to attend a sitting.

Attending an Assembly Sitting

To attend a sitting of the National Assembly of Québec, you must reserve a pass by calling the Information Service.

Decorum

Dress Code

Visitors attending parliamentary proceedings must be dressed modestly, neatly and tastefully.

The following are not allowed:

  • shorts, except bermuda shorts
  • garments sporting a slogan, an image that is in bad taste or conveys a partisan message
  • tank tops
  • caps and hats, except if worn for religious or health reasons

Use of the cloakroom is mandatory and free of charge. Visitors must check

  • food and beverages
  • cell phones
  • handbags
  • cameras and video cameras
  • any other object that could impair visitor comfort or safety or hamper visitor traffic

Silence

Visitors must remain silent during parliamentary proceedings and refrain from expressing approval or disapproval.

Attending a Committee Sitting

A pass is not required for admission to a committee sitting. All committee sittings are open to the public except deliberative meetings and in camera sittings.

The committees generally sit at the Parliament Building but sometimes travel to other locations in the province.

As the Assembly or committee sitting schedule may change without notice, on the morning of the day of your visit, please make sure the sitting you are planning to attend is still on by checking the Parliamentary Calendar (French only) or calling the Information Service at:

  • February 12 to May 30, 2013

The Assembly sits:

Tuesday 1:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Wednesday 9:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
3:00 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Thursday 9:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
3:00 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Extended hours

  • June 4 to 14, 2013

The Assembly sits :

Tuesday 1:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Wednesday 9:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

When the Assembly is in session, committees that meet in the National Assembly buildings may not sit during Routine Proceedings.
