Promotion of the profession and educational childcare services

Petition text

WHEREAS the network of childhood educational services, private and public, provides quality services to children;

WHEREAS the network is composed predominantly of women;

WHEREAS the current labour shortage is severely impacting the childcare network;

WHEREAS educational childcare services governed by the Ministère de la Famille must meet the same government standards established to ensure the appropriate development and well-being of children in Quebec;

WHEREAS the childhood educational services are adapted and safe environments, with specialized educational material based on the "Meeting Early Childhood Needs" educational program;

We, the undersigned, ask the Government of Québec to:

• Elevate the value of educational childcare services throughout the network governed by the Ministère de la Famille;
• Elevate the value of the early childhood educator profession by equitably subsidizing the wages of early childhood educators;
• Financially support all children and specifically those with special needs;
• Have a unified program for all 4-year-olds in all educational childcare facilities;
• Focus on equity, accessibility and reinforcement of existing facilities.
