Maintaining and processing new requests for hours allocated to the employment service paycheque for home care

WHEREAS the current official policy of the Québec government is to ensure that seniors can live safely in the community as long as possible;

WHEREAS the service employment paycheque is available and indispensable to a variety of vulnerable populations (seniors, parents of children who have disabilities) and their primary caregivers; 

WHEREAS the service employment paycheque is a cost-effective alternative to institutional care for taxpayers (for example, an emergency room hospitalization can cost about $1,500 per patient per day, and this cost is passed on to every taxpayer);

We, the undersigned, ask the Government of Québec to: 

• ensure that all institutions under Santé Québec process new requests for service employment paycheque hours;
• ensure that all institutions under Santé Québec maintain service employment paycheque hours for home care services.
