On August 27, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., the Lieutenant-Governor dissolved the Assemblée nationale. The call for an election ended the 43^rd Legislature.

After a general election, generally about a week after the day of the poll, the Secretary General of the Assemblée nationale receives the official list of candidates declared elected from the Chief Electoral Officer. These candidates must take the oath of office before they can take their seats in the Assemblée.
