Petition:
Petition to protect the mental health of public safety professionals and their families by restoring funding for the PSPNET program
Petition text
WHEREAS public safety personnel — police officers, paramedics, firefighters, and correctional officers — are exposed daily to traumatic situations that take a lasting toll on their mental health;
WHEREAS the PSPNET program (Mental Health Network for Public Safety Professionals) provides specialized, free, and tailored mental health care designed for the unique realities of these professions;
WHEREAS the government has cut funding to the PSPNET program, stripping thousands of Québec workers and their families of access to essential PTSD prevention and treatment services;
WHEREAS the absence of adequate support carries serious human, social, and economic consequences — including rising absenteeism, strain on family life, and an increased risk of suicide among first responders;
WHEREAS the mental health of public safety workers is essential to the safety of the communities they serve and protect;
We, the undersigned, ask the Government of Québec to immediately and permanently restore funding to the PSPNET program and formally recognize public safety professionals’ mental health as a public health priority in Québec.
