General consultation and public hearings on the 2016 five-year report entitled “Rétablir l’équilibre – Rapport sur l’application de la Loi sur l’accès aux documents des organismes publics et sur la protection des renseignements personnels et de la Loi sur la protection des renseignements personnels dans le secteur privé”
The Committee on Institutions has been mandated to hold public hearings beginning on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, as part of its general consultation on the 2016 five-year report entitled "Rétablir l'équilibre - Rapport sur l'application de la Loi sur l'accès aux documents des organismes publics et sur la protection des renseignements personnels et de la Loi sur la protection des renseignements personnels dans le secteur privé".
Participation in the Consultation
Send a Brief
Individuals and organizations wishing to express their views during public hearings must submit a brief to the Committee clerk no later than June 1, 2017. Briefs must be on letter-size paper.
They may be sent:
- by email (a single unlocked PDF file);
- by regular mail.
Briefs must include a short summary of their contents.
Send a Request to Appear without submitting a brief
Individuals wishing to voice their views during public hearings without submitting a brief must file a request to that effect with the Committee clerk no later than June 1, 2017. The request must include a short statement summarizing the nature of the presentation to be made.
The Committee decides which individuals and organizations it will hear from among:
- individuals and organizations having submitted a brief;
- citizens having filed a request to voice their opinion without having submitted a brief. A period not exceeding 45 minutes has been set aside to hear all of the opinions selected by the Committee.
Publication of Briefs
Unless the Committee decides otherwise, briefs will be made public and posted on the National Assembly's website, along with any personal information they contain.
Deadlines for submitting briefs and requests are subject to change, as is the opening date for public hearings. If changes are made, the information will be made public via the National Assembly's website without further notice being published in the newspapers.
