On April 8, 2026, at 8:00 p.m., the Lieutenant-Governor prorogued the Assemblée nationale, summoning it to meet on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 2 p.m.. The prorogation ended the 2nd Session of the 43rd Legislature.

Much of the work of the Assemblée nationale is done by parliamentary committees. A committee is a work group composed of a set number of MNAs who, in the name of the Assemblée nationale, examine issues that fall within the committee’s area of competence.
