I am very proud to hold the office of President of the National Assembly since being elected by my fellow Members on April 5, 2011. Ours is the only French-speaking parliamentary assembly in the Americas as well as one of the oldest in the world, and the President has one of the most important functions within the Québec State.
Following in the footsteps of my predecessors, I intend to consistently exercise neutrality, impartiality and discernment in carrying out my duties. In addition, like all past and future presidents, I will uphold the National Assembly's longstanding democratic tradition of.
Through their work in the Assembly and in parliamentary committees, MNAs make decisions that influence the lives of all Quebecers. As President, I intend to raise awareness of their essential role. I will also work to strengthen the relationship between the National Assembly and the public.
