A Brief History
The Assemblée nationale du Québec and the Senedd Cymru (Welsh Parliament) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (PDF, 1 MB) on May 22, 2025, with the objective of fostering exchanges between Québec and Welsh parliamentarians, as well as between their respective parliamentary administrations.
This Memorandum of Understanding formalizes the bilateral relationship between the Assemblée nationale and the Senedd. It establishes a framework for the exchange of knowledge and best practices concerning the functioning of both parliaments, and provides a forum for dialogue on shared challenges and matters of common interest.

On August 27, 2026, the Lieutenant-Governor dissolved the Assemblée nationale. The call for an election ended the 43rd Legislature.
When a legislature is dissolved, MNAs, whose terms coincide with the duration of the legislature, cease to hold office. The President and Vice-presidents stay in office until they are replaced or reappointed by the new Assemblée.
