Commonwealth Parliamentary Association
A Brief History
Since 1933, the Assemblée nationale du Québec has been a member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), an organization composed of some 180 Commonwealth-member parliaments. The Assemblée takes a particularly active role in the CPA Canadian Region and in the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians network.
The Québec Branch of the CPA fosters ties between Commonwealth-member parliaments, including the federal, provincial and territorial parliaments of Canada.
Mélissa Morin
On August 27, 2026, the Lieutenant-Governor dissolved the Assemblée nationale. The call for an election ended the 43rd Legislature.
When a legislature is dissolved, MNAs, whose terms coincide with the duration of the legislature, cease to hold office. The President and Vice-presidents stay in office until they are replaced or reappointed by the new Assemblée.
