Parliament of the Federation Wallonia-Brussels
A Brief History
In 1979, The Assemblée nationale du Québec and the Parliament of the Federation of Wallonia-Brussels (PFWB) signed a joint interparliamentary cooperation agreement (PDF, 889 KB) (in French) creating the Parliament of the Federation Wallonia-Brussels–Assemblée nationale du Québec Joint Committee. The agreement was renewed in 2002.
The Members who are part of the Joint Committee generally meet once a year, alternating between the city of Québec and Brussels. The resolutions adopted by the Members at these meetings include recommendations for their respective governments.
Since its creation, the Joint Committee has concentrated mainly on questions concerning culture, education, health and social affairs.

A new Assemblée nationale was elected at the general election held on October 5, 2026. The Assemblée has been summoned to meet on Tuesday November 17, 2026 at 2 p.m. This first sitting will mark the beginning of the
1st Session of the 44th Legislature.
Parliamentary and ministerial office holders will be named progressively following the general election.
The President and Vice-president stay in office until they are replaced or reappointed by the new Assemblée.
