National Assembly of Senegal
A Brief History
In 2016, the Assemblée nationale du Québec and the National Assembly of Senegal signed an agreement (PDF, 81 KB) (in French) establishing the particulars and operating rules of the Senegal-Québec Parliamentary Association (APQS), which aims to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between the two assemblies.
The APQS allows parliamentarians from Québec and Senegal to discuss subjects of mutual interest such as education, training, health, environment, energy, migrations, economic development and cultural affairs.
Mélissa Morin
On August 27, 2026, the Lieutenant-Governor dissolved the Assemblée nationale. The call for an election ended the 43rd Legislature.
When a legislature is dissolved, MNAs, whose terms coincide with the duration of the legislature, cease to hold office. The President and Vice-presidents stay in office until they are replaced or reappointed by the new Assemblée.
