Kyoto Prefectural Assembly
A brief history
On 18 January 2016, the Assemblée nationale du Québec and the Kyoto Prefectural Assembly signed a declaration in which they expressed their mutual interest in forging lasting interparliamentary relations. The objective of these relations is to facilitate the parties' collaboration in sectors of common interest such as energy, innovation, science and technology and on issues such as the declining birth rate and aging population.

On August 27, 2026, the Lieutenant-Governor dissolved the Assemblée nationale. The call for an election ended the 43rd Legislature.
When a legislature is dissolved, MNAs, whose terms coincide with the duration of the legislature, cease to hold office. The President and Vice-presidents stay in office until they are replaced or reappointed by the new Assemblée.
